Tent Types

High Peak Tents

The high sweeping peaks, tensioned fabric, and quick setup/teardown time makes the High Peak tent a favorite for many events. High Peak tents are perfect for smaller events such as private home backyard parties, festivals, school activities, and corporate events.

All our High Peak tents are engineered to CBC2016 temporary structure requirements and are available in 10’ x 10’, 15’ x 15’, and 20’ x 20’. Tents can be expanded by using a gutter to connect tents together. For example, (2) 15’ x 15’ can be connected using a gutter to make a 15’ x 30’ or (2) 20’x20’ tents can be connected to make a 20’x40’. The starting width of the tent must stay that size, but lengths can keep expanding to fit event needs and space requirements.

High Peak tents are available in white top with clear, white, or window sides. Tents can be staked into the ground or we can bring in weights to anchor tent. If staking into the ground, we will need an additional 5’ around tent for ratchets and stakes.

Frame Tents

Frame tents are our most commonly rented tents for weddings & events! These clear span (no center poles), A-frame tents are ideal for weddings & events due to many size options, flexibility of adjustable legs, and their ability to be transformed into a beautiful event space using lighting, ceiling treatments, and more! All our frame tents are “gable end” design, meaning they feel much more open from the inside.

All our frame tents are engineered to CBC2016 temporary structure requirements and are available in 10’, 20’, 25’, 30’, 40’, and 50’ widths. Length can be expanded to fit event needs and requirements in 5’ increments. We offer all sizes in white and clear top with optional white, clear, mesh, or window walls. Because all frame tents feature kedar tops and sides, all walls are on sliders and zip in the center making it easy to open and close sides as the evening progresses.

Frame tents can be set up on most surfaces. Though staking is preferred, if not permitted, ballasting is available. Please note if staking, we require our clients to mark all lines underground including but not limited to water, gas, and electrical so we do not hit them.

Structure Tents

Structure tents are the “golden standard” when it comes to tenting and temporary structures. They are the cleanest look, strongest frame, and capable of being the largest in size. For these reasons, they are very popular among larger weddings and almost all corporate events.

All our structure tents are engineered to CBC2016 temporary structure requirements, are available in 33', 40’, 50’, 60’, 66’, 82’, 98’, 114’, 131’, 148’ and 164’ wide, and lengths are expanding to fit event needs in 16’ increments.

Monterey Tent Rentals offers structure tents in white and clear top. Optional sides are available in white or clear vinyl. Also, upgraded glass and hard PVC walls are available for ultra-high-end events that require venue like perfection and security.

Please note that structures must be set up on a 100% completely level surface. If being set up on an unleveled surface, an engineered leveled flooring system will need to be installed under the tent. Structures can be staked into the ground or we can bring in weights to anchor tent.

Many décor upgrades are available. From carpet to hard wood floors and tent liners to custom decking and railing, the possibilities for transforming these structures are endless.

Sailcloth Pole Tents

Sailcloth pole tents are the perfect fit for a more rustic and “outdoor feel” wedding or corporate events. With elegant lines, a magical glow, wood poles, and a poetic look, our sailcloth tents provide the ultimate romantic setting for your special day. The translucence of the sailcloth fabric richly enhances daytime events with natural, warm light and dramatically glows when lit for evening gatherings. The sculpted peaks and eaves, with a hit of nautical flare, combine to create and open-air event space like nothing you’ve seen before.

All our sailcloth pole tents are engineered to CBC2016 temporary structure requirements. Pole tents are built as tension tents and MUST be staked into the ground. If we cannot stake for your event, then a pole tent is not the right solution.

Optional translucent or clear side are available. Because the translucent tops work so well with lighting, the possibilities are endless. Please check out the lighting Monterey Event Lighting can offer.

Important Tenting Information

Permitting fees may be applicable

Each county or city and its corresponding fire department have their own rules and fees. We will try our best to estimate these fees with your initial quote, however, final fees will be settled after your event with your final invoice.

Flooring

Tents themselves will stop the rain from coming down on your guests. However, if your tent is setup in an area where water would puddle or flow through, your guests may be standing in water once the water runs off the side of the tent. The only way to stop the water from hitting your guests' feet is to add a floor.

Condensation

Tents are no different than your home or car in that they face condensation. Condensation occurs when warm air collides with cold surfaces, or when there's too much humidity in your home. When this moisture-packed warm air comes into contact with a cold surface, it cools down quickly and releases the water, which turns into liquid droplets on the cold surface. This will result in what feels like rain inside your tent when it’s simply condensation. The only way to avoid this is to have constant air flow from a forced air heater.

Staking

For any tent that must be staked into the ground, all underground sprinklers, septic or other underground utilities must be flagged before installation and we are not responsible for hitting any lines underground. We will be staking as deep as 72” depending on the ground conditions.

A sample list of questions you will be asked in order to provide you with a proper quote:

  1. Where will the event be held? If taking place at a private home or venue we have not yet previously tented, an on-site meeting might be required for proper quoting.
  2. What type of surface will the tent be set up on? Grass, dirt, concrete, etc.?
  3. What type of event are you having in the tent? Sit-down dinner, standing reception, dancing only, etc.?
  4. If having a sit-down dinner, what size tables will you be using?
  5. What are you expecting to fit inside the tent? Tables, dance floor, furniture, etc.?
  6. Do you prefer white top or clear top?
  7. Does the tent need sides? If so, white or clear?
  8. Do you require heating? (remember the condensation information above).
  9. Do you require flooring? (remember the puddling information above).
  10. Do you require power?
  11. Do you require lighting?
  12. When can we install and tear down?
  13. When will the actual event take place?
